You Passed the US Citizenship Test

Congratulations - you got 9 out of 10 correct!

I decided that I would try to take the Citizenship Test. There were some hard questions there. I wasn't sure how good I'd do. LOL Looks like I'm smarter than I think. :)

Okay... so I'm supposed to tell you about my life...

Right now, I spend all my free time I can knitting. I have one indoor felted boot (from Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles by Cat Bordhi) done and another started. I'm using a light blue/grey color. The first set is for my mother. She's a bit upset that only one is done right now. She said that she's only going to have one warm foot this winter. I have 2/3 done on the french market bag from I'm using Cascade 220 in a green and grey mix. I'm really excited that the pattern is going so good. :) It's nice simple knitting so that I don't really have to pay too much attention to it while I'm doing it. And lastly, I have have all the stuff together to start Clapotis from I just have to work out the kfb and pfb. :) I knit in a combined method that is much quicker than when I was knitting with the english method, but the stitches turn out slightly different.

Oh yeah! I'm also reading Anna Karenina. (At least I'm trying to read it again...) I really want to read it, but it's so hard to get into. I read the first 140 pages two years ago and put it down. It took two years to pick it back up, so I had to start all over again. I think of the wasted time... I don't really understand this problem I have with this book. I'm an avid reader. I usually go through a book a day on the weekend. But, this book is torture!!!!! But, I feel I'm missing an experience. I never read Jane Austen when I was younger and have recently read some of her stuff and it was great. I'm glad I didn't let myself miss out on that experience... I hope I can make it through this one!!! :)

Yes, I am writing again. It's amazing, no? :)

The trip was long and tiring. We didn't get home until around 11 pm last night. It was a four hour drive each way. I got a little knitting done on the drive, but not much. On the way down to the funeral, I was in the back of the cab of a pick-up truck (albeit a very big pick-up truck) with my son and brother. Space was limited, so I didn't get too much knitting done because I was a little cramped. Fred drove down yesterday morning. I got to ride back in the passenger seat of my SUV. I was much more comfortable on the way back.

I am very tired. I didn't sleep well. First, I couldn't fall asleep, then I kept waking up. The pinnacle of my night was Fred waking me up because he was yelling "They cut the power." at the top of his lungs. I have no clue why I sleep in the same room, much less the same house as my husband. I can't believe that he didn't even wake up through all of that.

Sad day for my family...

We found out late last night that my uncle Bobby passed away. We are all going to miss him. Bobby was a wonderful person. He always had a smile and a laugh for everyone he met. He had one of those laughs that made you smile. No matter what your mood and no matter what was going on in your life, you were guaranteed to smile when you were around Bobby. As my aunt Dot put it "Bobby was the heart of our family." I don't think truer words have ever been spoken. Bobby had a talent for making someone feel comfortable in any surrounding. I'll always appreciate all the hugs, smiles and laughs he had for me when I was a kid. I'll never forget him.

It's a shame that life keeps you away from you family more than you would like it to. The everyday grind keeps you bogged down so that you are too wrapped up in your own life of trying to make ends meet to really appreciate your family the way you should. Those of us who are left are stuck with the regrets of not having spent enough time with those you love. I have to wonder if paying your bills on time and keeping your house neat are really worth the time away from your family.

Jesse is taking it hard. I didn't get to tell him until this morning before I left for work. He snuggled with me for a bit, but then I had to tell him that I had to go to work. I hate doing that to him. I hope that he gets caught up with playing with the kids, etc at the babysitters. We had two dogs die the week before last and my uncle Jimmy moved out of town last week. That's a lot for a 9 year old to deal with. I told him that if he needs me to have the babysitter call me. I guess that's all I can really do.
