Sad day for my family...

We found out late last night that my uncle Bobby passed away. We are all going to miss him. Bobby was a wonderful person. He always had a smile and a laugh for everyone he met. He had one of those laughs that made you smile. No matter what your mood and no matter what was going on in your life, you were guaranteed to smile when you were around Bobby. As my aunt Dot put it "Bobby was the heart of our family." I don't think truer words have ever been spoken. Bobby had a talent for making someone feel comfortable in any surrounding. I'll always appreciate all the hugs, smiles and laughs he had for me when I was a kid. I'll never forget him.

It's a shame that life keeps you away from you family more than you would like it to. The everyday grind keeps you bogged down so that you are too wrapped up in your own life of trying to make ends meet to really appreciate your family the way you should. Those of us who are left are stuck with the regrets of not having spent enough time with those you love. I have to wonder if paying your bills on time and keeping your house neat are really worth the time away from your family.

Jesse is taking it hard. I didn't get to tell him until this morning before I left for work. He snuggled with me for a bit, but then I had to tell him that I had to go to work. I hate doing that to him. I hope that he gets caught up with playing with the kids, etc at the babysitters. We had two dogs die the week before last and my uncle Jimmy moved out of town last week. That's a lot for a 9 year old to deal with. I told him that if he needs me to have the babysitter call me. I guess that's all I can really do.

So sorry to hear about your loss; you're right--it does seem like a lot for a 9 year old to deal with! I agree, too, on wondering sometimes whether keeping a neat house or not is worth it. I think that's why I quit grad school--basically all you were ever supposed to do was work, and I wanted to spend more time with people I cared about!
